2019 had been a great year for Bollywood. While we saw some content-driven films like Gully Boy, Uri and Article 15, viewers also appreciated Bala, War, and Chhichhore.

And now, as we enter a new year and a new decade, there are a lot of projects and announcements that have got the people all excited.

Here are some of the movies that we have been eyeing out of curiosity; have a look upcoming bollywood movies of 2020.


Director- Meghna Gulzar

Cast- Deepika Padukone, Vikrant Massey

Release date- 10 January 2020

The film features Deepika Padukone in the role of an acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal. Vikrant Massey can also be seen in the lead.  Deepika looks unrecognizable in the trailer of the film.


Director- Ashwini Iyer Tiwari

Cast- Kangna Ranaut, Jassie Gill, Richa Chadha, Neena Gupta, and Pankaj Tripathi

Release date- 24 January 2020

Panga is a sports drama featuring Kangna Ranaut. It shows the struggle of a married woman in the 30s who is willing to make her comeback in kabaddi and also reflects upon the importance of family’s support and love in order to be successful.


Director- Imtiaz Ali

Cast- Kartik Aryan, Sara Ali Khan

Release date- 14 February 2020

It is sequel to Imtiaz Ali’s 2009 romcom- drama Love Aaj Kal. It is said to be based on the complications and the problems that couples face in today’s times. Randeep Hooda also plays a brief role in the film.


Director- Kabir Khan

Cast- Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone

Release date- 10 April 2020

It is a biopic based on the life of veteran cricketer, Kapil Dev. It is based on the 1983 cricket World Cup. Deepika Padukone plays the role of his wife in the film. The film also features Saqib Saleem, Ammy Virk, Harrdy Sandhu, Sahil Khattar and Chirag Patil. Even if you’re not a cricket fan, this Ranveer Singh starrer is being looked forward to by everyone.

Cast- Amitabh Bachchan, Ayushmann Khurrana

Release date- 28 February 2020

It is a family comedy-drama. Set in the nawaabi sheher Lucknow, it is said to describe the daily struggles of a common man.


Director- Ayan Mukerji

Cast- Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy

Release date- May 2020

The film has been delayed for several reasons, but hopefully will be released in the summers of 2020. It is a fantasy adventure trilogy that will also include a cameo from Shah Rukh Khan. The audience is excited to see Ranbir and Alia on the big screen together.

Cast-Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt, Pooja Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur

Release date- 10 July 2020

It is a sequel to 1991 Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt starrer, Sadak. Pooja and Alia will be seen sharing the screen for the first time.


Director- Om Raut

Cast- Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan, and Kajol

Release date- 10 January 2020

It is the story of Tanaji Malusare who was a Maratha warrior from the 17th century Maratha Empire and was the military leader of king Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It shows an aim to protect southern India from the Mughal invasion.


Director- Homi Adajania

Cast- Irrfan Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Radhika Madan

Release date- 20 March 2020

It is a highly awaited sequel to the 2017 hit, Hindi Medium. It is Irrfan Khan’s return to the cinema. Not much is known about the film’s storyline yet, however, the addition of Kareena Kapoor and Radhika Madan to the cast are surely going to take the movie up a notch.

Cast- Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani

Release date- 31 July 2020

It is a comedy horror film and is the sequel to the 2007 release Bhool Bhulaiyaa directed by Priyadarshan. The sequel got a change in the director and the cast however, the theme remains the same.

Cast- Ayushmann Khurrana, Gajraj Rao Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta

Release date- 21 February 2020

It is a romantic comedy-drama film based on the taboo topic- homosexuality.  Bhumi Pednekar is rumored to play a special role in the film.

Cast- Shraddha Kapoor, Varun Dhawan Nora Fatehi, Prabhu Deva

Release date- 17 January 2020

It is based on two dance groups from India and Pakistan led by Varun and Shraddha respectively.

At first, they do not get along, but with due course of time through the dance, they realize that their rivalry is just trivial and they join hands to represent the community as a whole.

Cast- Kangana Ranaut, Arvind Swami, and Priyamani

Release date- 19 June 2020

It is about the life of J. Jayalalithaa, late politician and film actress who served as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Kangna underwent a massive transformation to fit into the role.

Cast- Tapsee Pannu, Arjun Kapoor, Sharman Joshi

Release date- 28 February 2020

The film questions the gender biases in a relationship through an engaging story of a husband and wife.


Director- Hansal Mehta

Cast- Rajkummar Rao, Nushrat Bharucha

Release date- 31 January 2020

It is a social comedy film set in a small town in Uttar Pradesh. The film has reunited Rajkummar Rao and Hansal Mehta once again after Shahid, Citylights, etc.
