 11 Natural And Simple Ways To Whiten Your Teeth

6. Sea salt

The sea salt is known for its cleaning and exfoliating properties. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on your regular toothpaste and brush your teeth as normally you would do. The constant use of sea salt will prevent your teeth from turning yellow.

7. Brush with neem sticks

Neem bark is considered to be an elixir of oral health due to its antibacterial properties. Direction to use – soak tip of neem stick in water overnight. Takeout the topmost woody layer of the stick in the morning, brush your teeth with this stick and rinse your mouth with clean water afterwards.

8. Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide a natural bleaching agent that helps to kill bacteria in the mouth. Toothpaste containing baking soda and 1% hydrogen peroxide helps to whiten your teeth. Hydrogen peroxide can be used as a mouthwash as well as a toothpaste. Directions to use –

As mouthwash

Concentrated 3% hydrogen peroxide cause gum irritation and tooth sensitivity so dilute it to 1.5% by mixing equal parts with water which makes it a good mouthwash. Swish it in your mouth for one minute, and then rinse. Use this mouthwash before you brush your teeth.

As toothpaste

Combine 2 teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide with 1 teaspoon of baking soda and brush teeth for 30 seconds with this paste.

9. Fruits and Vegetables

Many fruits and vegetable help to whiten your teeth.

Lemon, Orange peels, Pineapple has enzymes useful in whitening of teeth. Strawberries have malic acid enzyme which removes stains from teeth. Direction to use – mix 2-3 strawberries(mashed) with a half teaspoon of baking soda and a pinch of sea salt, use a paper towel to dry your teeth first before applying this mixture with toothpaste for 5 min then rinse with water.

VEGETABLES

Eat leafy vegetables which are rich in magnesium and potassium – Pears, Mushrooms, Sweet potatoes, Carrot.  You should also eat detergent foods to clean your teeth. There are certain foods you should eat to clean your teeth. These foods are called  “detergent foods.” Eat detergent foods that are firm and crisp to clean your teeth. Detergent foods like raw carrots, celery, popcorn, make detergent foods the final food you eat in your meal.

10. Use alcohol-free mouthwash

Mouthwash having alcohol dry out the tissues in your mouth, making them more susceptible to bacteria. It is recommended to use alcohol-free mouthwash. You should use mouthwash on regular basis to keep your teeth clean and to freshen your breath.

11. Prevent Tooth Stains Before They Happen

There are certain precautions we should take to keep our teeth healthy and stain free.

a. Limit Staining Foods and Beverages

Coffee, red wine, soda, and dark berries cause stains on teeth.  Use them in moderate amounts.
Avoid smoking and chewing tobacco, both of which can cause tooth discolouration.

b. Take care of Your Diet

Limit the amount of sugar in your diet, and get Plenty of Calcium in your diet. For example milk, cheese and broccoli help to protect your teeth from enamel erosion and prevent your teeth from becoming yellow.

I’ve always wanted to try oil pulling. Activated charcoal is awesome! I have veneers so I can’t use it but I have friends that love it!
