Companies use these for delivering loads of bulky goods across different regions. Shipping container transport is indeed irresistible for several businesses involving trade and imports.

You can receive any cargos you need for your business right at your doorstep without any of it being lost or broken. Shipment transports are developed systematically to give fast, efficient, safe, and affordable vast distance deliveries. What are the different types of shipping containers, then? Which goods are usually being moved between different modes of transport in one durable container?

What Are the Types of Shipping Containers?

In case you are wondering which shipping container you use for transporting dried materials, meats, fruits and vegetables, and even liquids over long distances between trains, ships, and any other form of transport, you should know that there are different classifications of shipping container transport for those.

You have what is called the general-purpose containers, the most common of all types. Ordinary kinds of cargo, whether dry or liquid, can be loaded in this shipping container. It is fully enclosed, weatherproof, and well-protected through its rigid roof and sidewalls.

And if you are shipping oversized goods like machinery, vehicles, big reels, and construction materials, a flat rack container that can carry as much as 45 metric tons of loads got you. It has collapsible sides with stable end walls, durable for carrying heavy equipment and materials.

Tank Containers are specifically designed to store and transfer liquid materials to places. They are usually made of steel and anti-corrosive materials for liquid storage and protection.

Refrigerated ISO containers are the ones that transport perishable items such as meats, vegetables, and fruits over long distances. They are temperature-regulated that rely on external power, and are made from weathering steel.

Insulated containers, on the other hand, are thermally-equipped to transport products like foods, pharmaceuticals, blood, organs, chemicals, and biological materials. They can withstand higher temperatures.

The half-height container is the best option in loading goods used in the mining industry like coal and stones. It transports bulk cargo that are heavy and dense, and it can withstand the rough industrial environment due to its versatility and robustness.

The car carriers can load heavy equipment, including cars, as the word implies. Car carriers can also transport goods like weapons, among many others.

Other Types

These are some of the constant varieties of shipping containers. The list goes on and on. And it does not only depend on the cargo but also the structure of shipping containers.

Some are designed for easy loading and unloading of cargoes like shipping containers with one side that can be fully opened, with doors on both ends, with foldable legs for transferring loads between two transport modes, with removable bows and tarpaulin roof secured with ropes, and many more.

Make sure to use the appropriate shipping container transport that suits what kind of material you are transporting as this is significant in maintaining the efficiency of your deliveries.
