In Prime Video’s first-ever regional language web series “Suzhal”, the duo stamp their class yet again, using their signature storytelling style to paint a vivid canvas that engages and entertains in equal measure. Directors Bramma and Anurcharan Murugaiyan further enhance the writing of Pushkar & Gayathri with immaculate visual grammar to deliver a compelling thriller series that makes a telling impression despite minor flaws. One thing that stood out the most was the rich production design. The cinematography and music elevated many scenes. Suzhal is definitely one of the best Tamil web series of all times.

2. Vadhandhi: The Fable of Velonie

Another intriguing whodunit by the authors of the riveting crime thriller Suzhal is Vadandhi – The Fable of Velonie (Rumor – The Fable of Velonie). The eight-part series, which unravels a web of lies, is developed, written, and directed by Andrew Louis.

While Vadandhi has just the right amount of suspenseful moments as Suzhal did, the web of lies manages to keep you interested in the plot. SJ Suryah has done a calm and nuanced representation of SI Vivek, making it look as if he owns the role. Like Nassar and Vivek Prasanna, two supporting actors, Laila also plays her part subtly. However, Sanjana, who portrays endearing Velonie, turns out to be the show’s true star. She adapts to her role like a fish to water, and it appears as if it was meant for her only. 

3. Inspector Rishi (2024)

The technical components of this series were extremely rich, notably the sharp editing by Ashwath and the fantastic Background score by Surya Prasad R, with a crew consisting of young and bright people. This series portrays the lifestyle of policemen and their distinctive way of treating the guilty in the police station. The narration was like a slow dopamine; it perfects with on and off riveting, paradigm-changing scenes. This was the perfect premise for Vimal to prove himself and he does well indeed, without a flaw. Besides him, Bala Saravanan is astounding & equally intimidating with his crisp dialect, which keeps viewers glued to the story. Kicha surprises the viewers with his uncanny acting and Prashanth Pandira has done an excellent job in directing the web series.

9. November Story

November Story, starring Tamannaah Bhatia, is an incredibly well-written, slow-burning thriller that possesses pretty much all the necessary elements a series has to have in order to stand out. This series is deserving of high praise, particularly for the narrative, which manages to hook viewers from the first episode on. The pacing of November Story can be problematic at times because of how slowly it develops. But what keeps one interested is the compelling screenplay, which masterfully threads a web of events to lead to something significant. On the surface, the series is a murder mystery, but at the same time, it well manages to lighten up the mood of the viewers with some humorous incidents in between.
