 11 Natural And Simple Ways To Whiten Your Teeth

Teeth are one of the first things people notice, they are a sign of health as well as confidence. You should always maintain good dental hygiene practices to keep your teeth great and strong. Who doesn’t want to have a beautiful smile with white and sparkling teeth? In this article, we will be discussing the natural and simple ways to whiten your teeth. First, let’s look at multiple factors contributing to the discolouration of your teeth.

1. Brushing and flossing after Drinking or Eating

Brush your teeth daily with an appropriate toothpaste to prevent plaque accumulation in your teeth. Make sure that you brush your teeth minimum two times, one in the morning and one before going to bed in the night. Also, It is recommended to floss your teeth after every meal.

2. Oil pulling

Oil pulling improves oral hygiene and makes your teeth look white. Sunflower, Sesame and Coconut oil (rich in lauric acid, known for its ability to reduce inflammation and kill bacteria), is used for oil pulling. Follow below directions for oil pulling.

a. Swish your mouth with one TSF (Teaspoon full) coconut oil for 5-20 minutes, or

b. Add a few drops to your toothbrush and brush or

c. Rinse your mouth daily with sesame oil significantly reduced Streptococcus mutans from saliva in one week time. Streptococcus mutans is one of the primary types of bacteria in the mouth causing plaque and gingivitis.

3. Activated Charcoal 

Activated charcoal helps in whitening your teeth, brush your teeth with activated charcoal 2-3 times a week, but avoid using it if your teeth have crowns, caps or porcelain veneers. You can sprinkle some activated charcoal powder on your brush on top of your regular toothpaste and brush your teeth as you normally do.

4. Brush With Baking Soda

Baking soda has natural teeth whitening properties. it is used in toothpaste to prevents bacteria from growing. Direction to use – Make a paste by mixing 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 2 teaspoons of water and brush your teeth, Repeat this 3-4 times a week to get the desired results.

5. Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)

Antibacterial properties of apple cider vinegar make it useful for cleaning your mouth and whitening your teeth. ACV has a bleaching effect on teeth. ACV contains acetic acid, potassium, magnesium, probiotics, and enzymes, which foster the growth of beneficial good probiotic bacteria. The pH of apple cider vinegar can remove stains from your teeth, which helps naturally whiten your teeth. Follow below directions to use :

a. Rub apple cider vinegar on your teeth with your finger for about one minute. Then rinse your mouth with water or hydrogen peroxide rinse

b. To use ACV as mouthwash you have to first dilute it with water and swish it in your mouth for several minutes.

Make sure to rinse your mouth with plain water afterwards. It is suggested to use it for one month continuously in order to see the best result.

I’ve always wanted to try oil pulling. Activated charcoal is awesome! I have veneers so I can’t use it but I have friends that love it!
