As of day-1 10.70cr. The movie is subdued by other movies like Vikram and Major which seem to have made a much greater impact and taken the spotlight, especially in South India.
Storyline:
Based on Prithviraj Raso which is said to be penned by Prithviraj Chauhan’s court poet Chand Bardai, the film is a biography about the life of the great Prithviraj Chauhan played by Akshay Kumar and his epic battle with the Muhammad of Ghor played by Manav Vij. It also portrays his love saga with Sanyogita played by Manushi Chillar. The movie is entirely fictional and has no historical evidence. The film is enjoyed for its greatness of story and plot but not the characters who played them. Most of the critics were unhappy with the choice of star cast which does not leave a lot of impact on the audience. The role of Sonu Sood as Chand Badroi is adored by the audience, on the flip side, that of the Bollywood debutant Manushi Chillar is frowned upon by them. But the grandeur, costumes, music and dialogues make up for the lack of effectiveness of actors. The film seems incoherent and all over the place, especially in the romance scenes with the 52-year old male lead alongside the 26-year old female lead. Choice of Akshay Kumar for the role of a young and dynamic king doesn’t sit well with the audience. But the roles of Sanjay Dutt, Ashutosh Rana and Manav Vij compensate for that with their terrific performance. Manav Vij, as the antagonist made a greater impact on the audience than the protagonist himself. The songs and cinematography are probably the only themes of the film that are enjoyed by everyone; critics as well.

Although the film has not received the numbers as expected by the crew and the cast, it holds great potential with the captivating storyline and powerful starcast. Whether or not you like the movie, it is sure to take you down the glorious historic past of India.
