14. Bhoot (2003)

Vishal (Ajay Devgan) works as a stock analyst. He and his wife, Swati (Urmila Matondkar), are looking for a flat in Mumbai. Vishal finds a great apartment on the 12th floor of a high-rise building. However, this apartment has a dark past. The previous tenant, a young woman, killed her child and then jumped from the balcony, which led to her death. After moving in, Swati finds out about this tragic story and becomes strangely obsessed with it. She begins to experience a series of strange events that drive her close to madness. Vishal feels helpless and thinks his wife may have a psychological disorder. He decides to consult a psychiatrist, Dr. Rajan (Victor Banerjee). The couple’s maid (Seema Biswas) believes Swati is possessed and calls an exorcist (Rekha) for help. At the same time, other unrelated events happen in the building. The watchman (Sabeer Masani) is scared, one of the residents, Sanjay (Fardeen Khan), is acting strangely, and a murder occurs.

They both give up their religions, get married, and move to Bombay in the 1920s. After they arrive, they start fixing up a mansion in Palanpur. Lisa soon feels that something is strange about one of the rooms, but Arjun ignores her. They will both regret this decision when Arjun finds out that Lisa is possessed by a powerful and evil entity.

Manohar, played by Neetu Chandra, moves into apartment 13B and notices some strange things in the building. For example, the elevator works for everyone else but not for him. He finds it even more surprising when he learns that a TV show called “Yavarum Nalam” tells stories similar to his life, such as his wife’s miscarriage, played by R. Madhavan. With the help of a police friend, Manohar looks into the history of past tenants in 13B. He discovers that the apartment has a dark and violent past. He also starts to think about his own role in the future of the apartment.
