Sonchiriya’s firm message is intensified by Anuj Rakesh Dhawan’s ascetic cinematography.

The film dares to speak truths that even most liberals avoid.

The writer-director Gopi Puthran’s Mardaani 2 is a razor-sharp, biting critique, of how patriarchy reacts when it confronts a questioning woman. Mukerji’s immersive execution in this suspenseful thriller makes for an efficient combination with the antagonist acted by

Its a genuinely feminist film from Bollywood, not a film posing to be feminist while concealing a conservative core.

Contrary to the popular discourse that demonizes Muslims, this movie sees Kashmiri Muslims as normal people having good and bad, evil virtuous with evenly troubled in their life. Alia Bhatt is splendid as his girlfriend who is fighting battles with patriarchy. The top-notch cast includes one of the big findings of this year Siddhanth Chaturvedi. Gully Boy is technically slick, unapologetic about its politics, and full of brilliant poetry.

The Apna time aayega (Our time will come) anthem is for every human being who has been discriminated against, sidelined or ignored by a predominant social group.

Gully Boy is a gut-wrenching movie from a brave filmmaker.
