Most of the Bollywood stars already stepped into web platform long back, now Bobby Deol is on the board. MX Player is coming up with its new venture Aashram directed by Prakash Jha and Bobby Deol in the lead.
According to the source, the series is a political satire and the character Bobby Deol is playing has resemblance with Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. Though, the creator claimed it a fictitious story. Since the day of the first look of Aashram launched, huge criticism has started. Another hand, a group of audiences are also excited about the web series as political satire is a very less explored genre in India.
Matter-of-factly, to avoid any controversy like Godman, MX Player already has launched a disclaimer in the official trailer.
‘We pay respects to all the religious leaders and their establishment. All religions, creeds, ideas, cultures, and traditions recognized and practiced in our country are our heritage and we are proud of them. But occasionally some people use this glorious heritage to distort and exploit the naïve believers of the society and malign the great establishment of our revered, true, and honorable religious leaders. This fictional story of the ashram is an attempt on this subject. ‘
