These days stress is a part and parcel of our daily lives. To curb the evil effects of stress, here we have seven effective ways to deal with stress.
1. Accept that stress is a part of life –
There are times when you are overburdened with your work and you feel very stressed just then devote your efforts into doing what you can, to move forward. Even if you know that you cannot change the circumstances, you should always take baby steps to improve your life bit by bit. Learn to accept the fact that stress is a part of your life, a part and not the whole life itself. If you do not accept this fact then you will not be able to make small differences in your life because your thoughts will pull you back. Thus you need to change your perspective first.
2. Take Care of Your Physical Health –
During stressful situations, the most common mistake that almost every individual makes is to neglect their physical health. You should always take special care of your health especially in times of stress because if your body stops operating smoothly then as a consequence your mind will not work properly and you are likely to lose your focus. if you are tired and running on emptyYou will not be able to combat stress. You should exercise regularly, get plenty of sleep and maintain a healthy diet. Regular exercise will give proper oxygen supply to your brain and will result in the proper functioning of the brain, plenty of sleep and a healthy diet will relax your body, it will help you to focus properly and will prepare you to combat stress.
3. Mindfulness (focusing on the present) –
As per research practising mindfulness (being focused on the present moment without judgement) can reduce stress. Practically speaking it the present moment of which you the control and your present action determines your future. Thus it is advised to focus on the “now” part without judging. It is normal for the mind to wander but you must have control over your mind. When the mind wanders just bring it back gently. This can be done by practising regular meditation, simple yoga, breathing sincerely. There is also mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) courses that teach mindfulness with the help of meditation, breathing, and yoga, this course can be helpful to train your mind and deal with stress.
4. Choose healthy stress dealing skills –
Most of the people take refuge in alcohol, junk foods, smoking just to escape stress. It is advisable not to do so instead struggle through discomfort in a productive manner. You should allow yourself to feel the uncomfortable emotions like sadness, anxiety, fear, depression etc. Use healthy activities (like going for a walk, exercising, participating in some activity or hobby) to deal with stress.
5. Observe Some Solitude Each Day –
It is advisable that you observe some solitude each day. You should have some “me” time each day. You can spend your “me” time alone with your thoughts or you can simply observe some quiescence or you can simply pursue some hobbies in your “me” time.
6. Acknowledge your choices –
Stress can make you feel like a prey of unusual circumstances. It is advisable to acknowledge your actions (whatever you do start from the time you wake up until the time you go to sleep) as your choice. You must be willing to say “no” to things that you do not want to do and learn to take responsibility for your behaviours and actions.
7. Maintain a positive approach –
You should have a realistic outlook but should always look for opportunities amidst adversities. Recognise the fact that opportunities can arise out of stressful situations. You should have a positive approach, face a stressful situation and make good use of the adverse situation.

Rightly said that we should accept that stress is a given part of life. Instead of avoiding or denying it, one should try to learn better coping skills.
