He was so angered by Lala Lajpat Rai’s death, that he decided to avenge it along with Shivaram Rajguru,Sukhdev Thapar and Chandrashekhar Azad.They plotted to kill the Superintendent of Police James Scott in Lahore. 10. Although he was a Sikh, he had to shave his beard and cut his hair so that the British cannot recognize him and arrest for the killing. He then escaped to Calcutta from Lahore,but he returned from Lahore a few days later.
11. Bhagat Singh, along with the associates, threw bombs in the Central Assembly, Delhi. The intention was not to murder or harm anyone but to initiate and warn and thus the bombs were made with low-grade explosives. Later the British investigation report and forensics details confirmed it.

Being a great writer, Singh wrote for Urdu and Punjabi newspapers which used to get published from Amritsar.In 1923, he won an essay competition set by the Punjab Hindi Sahitya Sammelan, writing on the issues in Punjab. He also contributed to low priced pamphlets, published by Naujawan Bharat Sabha(Which he founded himself in March 1926) which excoriated the British.He also wrote for Kirti, the journal of the Kirti Kisan Party (“Workers and Peasants Party”) and briefly for the Veer Arjun newspaper, published in Delhi.It is also said that Singh had finished writing four books during his life in prison.Though he is an outstanding writer, he preferred to keep his name anonymous and unknown to all.
13. His feelings of patriotism were not only restricted against British rule but also towards the division of India on communal lines. He is a witness to the Hindu –Muslim riot that broke out after Gandhi disbanded the Non-Cooperation Movement, began to question the religious ideologies of the society. Later he also went on to write an essay titled “‘Why I am an Atheist’ in Lahore Central Jail in 1930.
14. The British slowly realized Bhagat Singh’s influence on the youth, they arrested him on the false pretext of being involved in the bombing that had taken place in Lahore(Lahore conspiracy case) in October 1926. He was released after five weeks of his arrest on a surety of Rs. 60,000.
15. Singh along with Rajguru and Sukhdev were hanged eleven hours ahead of the official time when the death sentence was to be commuted March 24,1931.Against the basic rights his body was not provided to his family and was rather cremated secretly on the banks of the river Sutlej by jail authorities.However,people got the news and thousands of them gathered at the site and took out a procession holding his ashes.The legendary freedom fighter along with Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar was hanged on March 23,1931 at 7:30pm.During his death he was just 23 years old.Even though he died,his brave and inspiring actions continued to uplift the desire for freedom among all.
