An over-the-top-media service is a streaming service offered directly to viewers via the internet. The term is most synonymous with subscription-based video-on-demand (Svod) services that offer access to film and television content including existing web series acquired from other producers, as well as original content produced specifically for the service. 3) Disney+hotstar

Disney+ hotstar is a collaboration between Disney and star, India’s existing hotstar streaming service. So, when Disney pus became official last year it was only natural that it take advantage of hotstar’s existing infrastructure in India to promote the library of Disney content. 4)Voot

Voot is available only in India, and hosts over 40,000 hours of video content that includes shows from channels like MTV, Nickelodeon, and Colors. It is Viacom 18’s advertising-led-video-on-demand platform launched in March 2016. voot select will cost ₹99 a month after a 3-day full trial,₹ 499 for the full year after a 14-day trial.

5)Zee5

Zee 5 is an Indian video-on-demand service run by the Essel group via its subsidiary Zee Entertainment Enterprises. It was launched in India on 14feb,2018 with content in 12 languages. Zee 5 recently announced the launch of “Zee 5 club” at ₹365 per year. Zee5 club will enable its consumers to have exclusive access to most popular shows before telecast on t.v, apart from select zee5 and Balaji shows,-1000+blockbuster movies,Zee zindagi shows, animated shows for children, and over 90+live tv channels.

6)MX player

MX Player is an Indian video streaming and video on demand platform developed by Mx media and entertainment. It has over 280 million users globally. One of the most interesting things about MX player is its a large array of gestures that controls that give you the option to do practically everything with manual shortcuts. This platform currently operates on an ad-supported model and has a streaming library of over 150,000 hours across 12 languages. It has licensed contents from various Indian and international studies including film rise, Sonar entertainment, Hungama, Shemaroo, Paramount Pictures, and Sony entertainment.

7)Alt Balaji

Alt balaji is an Indian subscription-based video-on-demand platform, a subsidiary of Balaji telefilms Ltd., launched on April 16, 2017. It provides 32 original shows in Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, and Gujarati. Balaji through this platform wants to progress into litter-breaking content and have something for everyone. The stories range from drama, comedy, romance to thriller crime and mystery. The platform provides kids content including 100+shows. It gives the viewer choice of three streaming membership plans-3months for ₹100,6 months for  ₹180 or 12 months for ₹300.

8)Sony LIV

Sony Liv is a South-Asian general entertainment video-on-demand service available in India and Pakistan. It is owned by sony pictures networks Pvt.ltd.It offers users a broad array of Set channels for movies and serials such as Sony pix, sony max, SAB, and Axn along with some sports channels such as Ten1, Sony Ten2, Sony ESPN, and Sony Six. Sony Liv also provides some brilliant original series for you to binge on. Its subscription period comes with great benefits-fee of  ₹299 per month,₹ 699 for six months,99 per year.

9)Eros Now

Eros Now is Eros International PLC’s leading on-demand South Asian entertainment network accessible anytime, anywhere on most internet-connected screens including mobile web, and tv. Eros is hosting one of the largest libraries of movies, as well as premium television shows, music, videos, and audio tracks. The subscription cost of the Eros now premium subscription service is  ₹99 per month for a single device and ₹399 per year for a single device.

10) Viu

Viu is a leading premium video-on-demand by Hongkong service from Vuclip, a PCCW media company launched in March 2016 in India. COMPARISON

As per the survey, Netflix and amazon prime lead the Indian OTT video content market, followed by Disney+hotstar, Altbalaji, Zee5 etc.in terms of the percentage of respondents subscribed to each platform. The market remains highly focused on the ad-based (AVOD), where advertisements drive revenues. However, the subscription-based market continues to grow.
