8. Ram – Priya (Bade Ache Lagte Hai)
This was one of the cutest reel couple on Indian Television at one point of time. Ram played by Ram Kapoor and Priya played by Sakshi Tanwar’s love story was a bit different. Ram’s step sister Natasha fell in love with Priya’s younger brother, but he wouldn’t marry before his elder sister Priya got married. On Natasha’s request, Ram marries Priya. Though initially, they disliked each other but slowly their hatred turned into love. And they became an iconic couple!
9. Raman – Ishita (Yeh Hai Mohabbatein)
This was a love story between Ishita, a dentist who is infertile and Ruhi,
Raman’s daughter.Raman was a divorcee, who was a father of two children, Aditya and Ruhi. His ex-wife Shagun Arora, took their son, Aditya and abandoned Ruhi.
Ishita forms a motherly bond with Ruhi, and slowly Raman and Ishita fall in love and get married. Though, Shagun continues to create misunderstandings between them – they emerge stronger. Even after lots of enemies trying to create obstacles in their life, they fought with it together and won every time.
Though, Raman and Ishita bid adieu to their audience recently but Yeh Hai Chahtein is here to carry the baton ahead!
10. Abhishek – Pragya (Kumkum Bhagya)
Lovingly called “Abhigya”, Abhi and Pragya are the evergreen jodi of Zee TV. They have been ruling everyone’s heart since the last 5 years. The pyaar and takrar of Abhi and Pragya was loved and accepted by the fans positively. It was the off screen friendship between Shabbir Alhuwalia (Abhi) and Sriti Jha (Pragya) that worked in their favour for the show.
Their marriage started with a misunderstanding, and to protect his sister’s relationship. He was already in a relationship with a “supermodel” Tanushree. After their marriage, Pragya gets to know the truth and accepts the blame to protect her sister. Slowly, as they get to know each other, they fall in love with each other, much to Abhi’s sister’s dismay.
His sister and Tanu tried to create many misunderstandings but they won over all odds. Currently, the track shows Abhi and Pragya separated, we can just hope that in the next decade they come together and battle all odds together.
11. Karan – Preeta (Kundali Bhagya)
Ekta Kapoor, is undoubtedly the czarina of Indian Television. The idea of spin – offs was new and untouched, it was an experiment. But Ekta Kapoor took the risk and launched Kundali Bhagya, a spin-off of Kumkum Bhagya.
Kundali Bhagya was the story of Preeta and Srishti, the two estranged sisters of Pragya, who was separated from her when their parents separated. The show was accepted with positive reviews and the fans went gaga over their two leads Preeta and Karan, lovingly called PreeRan.
Initially, they used to detest each other but with the passing of time, they became good friends and then best of friends. Unknowingly they fell in love with her, though Preeta was already engaged to someone else that didn’t stop her from falling for Karan.
But the fans were heartbroken, when Karan kicked Preeta out of her house due to some misunderstandings. The fans were on cloud nine when Karan married Preeta and proposed to her for life, only to be dumped by him later in an isolated place.
Fans love the chemistry of Dheeraj Dhoopar and Shraddha Arya, who are best of friends off screen. Currently, Karan is all set to marry his fiancee, to show Preeta that he can move on too but will it be that simple? We’ll get to know about that next year! We can only hope that PreeRan unite and the fans stay happy.
12. Anurag – Prerna (Kasauti Zindagii Kay)
Kasautii Zindagii Kay Season 1 was a major success, the fans loved Anurag, Prerna and Rishabh Bajaj. It gave birth to the iconic vamp “Komolika”, played by Urvashi Dholakai. They were all household names. The show ended in 2008.
But after 10 years, the creators came up with the second season. Erica Fernandez who plays the role of Prerna and Parth Samthaan who plays the role of Anurag, had a huge responsibility to match upto the expectations of the iconic character of Anurag and Prerna.
They did manage to create a place in the hearts of their fans. So they definitely deserve to be in this list.
13. Shivaay – Annika (Ishqbaaaz)
There’s was a “khidki – thod” love story. Their love story started with tashan. Shivaay, played by Nakuul Mehta didn’t believe in love and was all set to marry Tia, on his mother’s insistence. Due to some circumstances, Shivaay marries Anika, played by Surbhi Chandna get married. Though their marriage had a rocky start, they eventually fall in love and were popularly called as “ShiVika”.
