13. Paradesi Synagogue
It is the oldest functioning synagogue in India. It was built in 1568. It is also called Mattancherry synagogue, it is one of the most visited places in Fort Kochi.

How to Reach– Nearest Railway station is Ernakulam about 10 kilometres away. Cochin air International Airport is the nearest airport.
Best time to Visit– It is open all day except Friday and Saturday and on Jewish holidays.
Munnar lies in the western ghats mountain range. It is located in the district of Idukki. It is famous for the very rare Neelakurinji and Nilgiri Tahr.
Places and Activities– Pothamedu Viewpoint, Eravikulam National Park, Wonder Valley Adventure Park, Echo point, Attukad waterfalls.
How to Reach– Since Munnar is in Idukki, there is no way to reach there by train. The nearest railway station is very far away. So, it is ideal to just travel in a taxi or private vehicle.
Best Time to Visit– Tourists prefer to visit Munnar during December to February season due to pleasant weather.
Thenmala is located in Kollam district.Situated north of Thenmala dam,It is a major tourist hotspot in Kerala.
Places and Activities– Palaruvi waterfall, Kulathupuzha, Aryankavu.
How to Reach– Thenmala railway station is the nearest railway station, tourists will have to find other ways to commute within Thenmala.
Best Time to Visit– Summer is the best visiting time. This is from March to May.
It is situated near Periyar National Park in Idukki district.
Places and Activities– Periyar Lake, Periyar National Park, Murikkady,Peermade, Gavi.
How to Reach– Thekkady is connected with other districts by roads, but the nearest railway station is in Kottayam. One can choose to travel by road from here. The nearest airport is in Madurai, Tamil Nadu.
Best Time to Visit– It is best to visit here during winter. Between November and February.
Kumarakom is part of Kottayam district, and is situated near Vembanad lake.
Places and Activities– Kumarakom Bird sanctuary observatory tower, Pathiramanal, Bay Island driftwood Museum, Mango Meadows, Thanneermukkom-bund the great backwaters.
How to Reach– The nearest railway station is Kottayam railway station which is almost 16 kilometres away. One can use a private vehicle, or taxi to commute from there.
Best time to Visit– September to March is the best season to visit.
18. Bekal Fort
It is the largest fort in India. It completed construction in 1650. It is located in the district of Kasargod.
Places and Activities– Bekal beach, Chandragiri fort, Kappil Beach.
How to Reach– There are two major railway stations near the fort, Kasargod and Kanhangad. From here, It is easy to get a taxi to the fort. The nearest airport is Mangalore.
Best time to Visit– Most tourists prefer winter due to better travelling conditions.
19. Muzhappilangad Beach
This beach is situated in Kannur district. It is a driving beach where one can ride through the entire length of the beach.
Places and Activities– Edakkad Beach, Dharmadam thuruth island. Fort St Angelos,Thottada beach.
How to Reach– The nearest railway station is in Kannur, which is 15 kilometres away. If you have a vehicle, you can drive it along the beach, as you enjoy the sunset.
Best Time to Visit– You can visit the beach, any time of the year.
20. Thalassery Fort
Thalassery fort is located in the town of Thalassery in Kannur district.The fort is a historical monument built by the British in 1703.
Places and Activities– Jawahar Ghat Thalassery, Thalassery Seabridge viewpoin , St John’s Anglican Church.
How to Reach– The Thalassery railway station is near to the fort. In addition, the fort is also very close to the new bus stand.
Best Time to Visit– Entry to the fort is free and is from 8 am to 6 pm. There is no seasonal preference for visitation.
21. Silent Valley
It is a national park. It falls in the districts of Palakkad and malappuram.
Places and Activities– Kanjirapuzha Dam, Virgin Valley,Kanjirapuzha garden.
How to Reach– Closest railway station is Olavakkode railway station of Palakkad District, which is almost 75 kilometres away from the park. There are buses from Mannarkkad.
Best Time to Visit– Ideal time to visit the park is during winter, around December to April.
22. Kappad Beach
This is where Vasco da Gama landed back in 1498. There is a stone monument installed here to remember the historically important event.
Places and Activities– Vasco Da Gama Memorial, Deepanjali lamp Museum, Ezhimala Viewpoint, Pazhassiraja Museum and Art Gallery.
How to Reach– Kozhikode Main Railway Station is near Kappad beach It takes only about 27 minutes by car.
Best Time to Visit– Perfect time for a vacation here is during winter. From December to March.
Near the western ghats in Palakkad district. It is a hill station, situated inside the Nelliyampathy forest reserve.
Places and Activities– Pothundi dam, Seethargundu Viewpoint Meenampara Estate. Seetharkundu Waterfalls Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary. Nenmara, trekking.
How to Reach– The nearest railway station is Palakkad railway station, which is almost 54 kilometres away from here. It is better to take a taxi or travel in a private vehicle by road.
Best Time to Visit– Monsoon months will be uncomfortable due to heavy rain and summers may be too hot, so September to May is the best time.
24. Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary
Muthanga is the second largest Wildlife Sanctuary in Kerala. It is well known for its rich biodiversity. It is located in Wayanad district.
Places and Activities– Brahmagiri, Nagarhole National Park and Tiger Reserve. Kuruvadweep, Iruppu waterfalls, Pakshipathalam.
How to Reach– Being located in Wayanad, the nearest railway station is so far away. Travelling by private vehicle or hiring a taxi is the ideal way to go.
Best Time to Visit– The months just after the rainy season, and winters are the best seasons to visit the sanctuary.
25. Idukki Dam
It is located in Idukki district. The construction was completed in the year 1969. It was built in between Kuravan and Kurathi hills.
Places and Activities– Cheruthoni Dam, Hill View Park, Ramakkalmedu, Vagamon, Kurisumala Ashram.
How to Reach– The railway station nearest Idukki dam is in Kottayam, one can use roadways to reach the dam.
Best Time to Visit– Tourists visit the dam during both summers and winters, but monsoon is not preferred due to heavy rainfall.
